How to Measure
The height required to install the gate(s) needs to be a minimum of a 110mm higher than the actual gate itself at the hinge side if you would like to put the hinge cover on the bottom hinge.
For example, 1600mm height gate(s) would require a post or wall height of 1710mm minimum for the hinges to sit underneath and above the gate.
If you do not want to use the hinge cover for the bottom hinge you can turn the hinge upside down and that will reduce the overall height require by 30mm.
For example, 1600mm height gate(s) fitted with the bottom hinge turned upside down and fitted with no cover would require a minimum post / wall height of 1680mm.
Garden Gates (Full Privacy or Partial Infill)
The width of the opening where you are planning to fit the garden gate needs to be a minimum of 30mm wider than the gate itself and no more than 50mm wider.
For example, a 900mm wide gate would require a minimum opening of 930mm. 20mm gap for the lock keep side and a minimum of 10mm gap for the hinge side. Maximum gap of 30mm on the hinge side.
Driveway Gates (Full Privacy or Partial Infill)
The width of the opening where you are planning to fit the driveway gates needs to be a minimum of 30mm wider than the gate itself and no more than 70mm wider.
For example, a set of 3000mm wide gates would require an opening of 3030mm minimum up to 3070mm maximum.
